Since the M2 laptop is still being sold at a discount, it sounds like the real solution is to upgrade to 16gb RAM rather than upgrading the SSD?
yup
Just got MBP 14" M3 base ..more than enough for me

Quando e possibile acquistarlo in Italia? Grazie 🙂
Great questions. My guess is probably by September. I would reach out to BenQ EU and inquire.
Next you should review the best soc Snapdragon X Elite vs M3 Max and M3 Pro, and later with the M4 when it comes out.
Snapdragon review is in the work. Machines coming this week
Mine shows up that it’s usbc but tells me there’s nothing to display… even tho it’s plugged in
What USB C cable are you using? The one that comes with the display or the one that comes with the computer that is meant for charging the computer? The latter will not work because even though it uses USB C connector it is at the core a USB 2.0 cable.
I tired both and nothing. Do I need to buy a special one?
no, contact your local BenQ support, or if you have either the SW or PD line, you can dm me
Hello, Thank you for your video ! How do you know if the device is in hardware or software raid ? Thank you in advance for your answer.
The setup process would be one of the way to tell. Or when you plug it into a computer. If it is setup for Mac, if it is using Mac Software RAID then any Mac OS will see and be able to read it. If it is setup for Win, then the same would happen, plug it into Win and the OS should see it. However, if you plug it in and it does not work or show up in either OS, it could be hardware raid which requirer drivers and kernel extension installed on the system. If you don't know, it is a trial and error process.
@@ArtIsRight Thank you very much for your quick answer 😀 Okay, so, software (managed by the computer) or hardware (managed directly by the D5) RAID is something that needs to be setup during the RAID configuration (and drivers installation) the first time we plug it into the computer (Windows in my case).
Yes that has to be part of the initial setup.
I bought benq pd2706ua… can i remove the yellow tag label saying… do not tear… i’m unable use that part of screen because of that…
Yes you can remove the yellow tag, just don't try to peel anything on the display under the tag.
@@ArtIsRight ok thanks
M1 Mac Studio running Sonoma 14- Profile created by PMU (when selected in Displays) exhibits aberrations in the blacks, noticeably different when looking at identical files in LRC (dev mode) and PS. When selecting packaged SWAdobeRGB profile in displays, black issue is remedied but color accuracy is way off . Why is the generated profile causing these problems?
Doesn't happen using M2 macbook
This is a bug in MacOS and it has to do with graphic out. It effect all "M" series Mac. The work around for this right now is to set the gamma to sRGB. Not this is only the gamma curve and not the color gamut.
Set the gamma to srgb in which interface? The edit target window? Certainly not the
@@ArtIsRight Set the gamma to srgb in which interface? The edit target window? (Operating any wide gamut display in srgb defeats the purpose of spending the money on the display.)

Great video and very clear explaination, the only thing I didn't like about this software is that unlike DisplayCal it doesn't provide you with exact information about how much of a color space is being properly covered after calibration (e.g. Rec.709:100% or P3: 96%)
Thanks. The information that you have about color gamut coverage percentage is never really accurate, which is why this software avoid this all together.
HI ! I use Mac mini m2 pro with benq pd2500q monitor connected through the HDMI cable. can you please suggest what colour profile should I assign to my Mac and also what should I select in display pilot. Currently my settings are BenqPD2500 in colour profile in my Mac and have selected sRGB in Display pilot. so when I color grade my footage and watch it in iPhone it is pretty much accurate just that the contrast in iPhone is less but not on my monitor
What you have set up is the simplest and best, especially if you don't custom-calibrate it.
@@ArtIsRight thanks ! You are always helpful
Really helpful, thank you very much.
You're welcome!
Great video! I have a LG oled tv that switch in HDR when the footage is in HDR, I would like to calibrate the tv for SDR but also for HDR, is it possibile?
If you are using a computer source, you can use this software; right now, calibration can only be done in SDR. If you are using another source, you would have to use LG calibration software or CalMan if your TV is compatible with it.
I have the i1display pro plus, i've read that it supports HDR, or no?
it has support for high luminance displays/TV which is not to say that it has the capability to calibrate in HDR. The only software that can do HDR calibration right now is CalMan, and I would hardly call that consumer software.
Really nice video and comparative. Ia am going to sell my Mac Mini M1 16GB RAM and buy a Macbook as my main and unique machine. I am getting crazy about what model buy. I will be trading during large sessions, having many charts open, broker platforms, 20 or 30 browser tabs and the classic Telegram, Mail, Google Sheet, Excel. Not gonna use for editing videos, images, Lightroom or this heavy stuff. I thought that maybe was better a Macbook Pro over a Macbook Air related to mantain a better thermals and maybe the M3 Pro Chip with 36GB RAM, but as much videos I see, it seems 36GB RAM not worth the money over 18GB and even I don't have so clear the base M3 but with 16GB is worth over M3 Pro with 18GB RAM, all of this in the 14" size. Macbook Air 15 M3 16GB or 24GB RAM, it seems reasonable to me, but I have the doubt about the high temperatures because of no t having fans. What would be your choice taking in account the use I will do? Thanks in advance, sir.
I would just get a 14" M3 and up the RAM to 16 or 24 GB and call it the day.
@@ArtIsRight I thought you would prefer 36 BG. When you say M3 is the Macbook Pro M·, not the Macbook Air M3. Thanks a lot.
Yes I am referring the 14" MBP and the M3 vanilla SoC will only allow you to go up to 24 GB, You can get the M3 Pro with 36 GB but based on what you told me you don't really need that. If you have a Mac right now I would check your memory pressure when you are running all of your apps. That will be a good indicator
@@ArtIsRight My main pressure is always on green, practically 14 GB of 16GB used and not using swapping normally. I could get the MP M3 24GB and 1TB for 2.200€. Not sure if is a good price. With only 16GB RAM if I hold for 3 years the laptop. not sure if I will have problems for sell it as second hand. Thanks a lot for the feedback.
Greeting, I would beg for help. I need a computer for professional photo editing. I am currently using MBP M1 8gb RAM, 8cpu 10gpu. I wonder if it is better to buy: Apple Mac mini M2 Pro 10-core CPU 16-core GPU 32GB RAM 512GB SSD Or Apple MacBook Pro, M3 Pro 11-Core Chip, 14-Core GPU, 18GB RAM, 512GB SSD Thank you!
One is a desktop, another is a laptop, this really depends on what you need. If I just look at the spec, I would go for more RAM than SoC speed improvement on the M3 gen, which for most photo apps is about a 10% improvement over M2, not that significant.
Dear do I have to download other drivers because before the 500brio I had a logitech 270. My camera works, but I'm asking because of the driver. Thanks
Yes, new logi driver.
I assume to take advantage of the hardware calibration, you need to use the BenQ software with a calibration device (i1, .etc)? I assume if you use the i1Profiler or Calibrite software, it just creates an icc profile and doesn't change the LUT at the hardware level. Also, do you set the color space to Adobe RGB or Native in the BenQ software (I understand the Native is a bigger color space). Thanks
Your understanding is correct. And Native is slightly larger than Adobe RGB :) at least on the SW series, anyway.
Is there an advantage of using the manual fine tune calibration over the automatic calibrite calibration?
It would be one of those; you do both. If you want to skip fine-tune, you can. Based on my tests, the results are close to each other with or without fine-tuned calibration, when using Calibrite Profilier
@@ArtIsRight Thank you so much! Very helpful information.
😄
Unfortunately we did not get a review from you of this monitor, people say that this monitor is not bright enough, what would you say ?
it depends on what you do... for photo and most SDR video this is just fine. For HDR video, it is not quite there. This is largely dependent on your workflow.
in a 32gb Unified Memory 14MBP M3 pro do you think we will have heat problems ?
no
The tip of increasing memory from 18GB to 36GB on an M3Pro is obvious, but I was mistakenly ignoring it! Thank you very much for this video!
Thank you!
Hi mate, thanks for the video. Could I please know if you have any videos for projectors?
That is up coming.... I have a projector in the studio now
Is it normal for the CPU to run hot 190-200 degrees F when running there Video Enhancer ? My M1 Max Macbook Pro 16" 64 GB is about 190+ when upscaling on Topaz but only 180 when running Hit Paw....
That sounds about right, mine does the same thing.
@@ArtIsRight would it be safe to say working for a few hrs a day straight w/ the CPU at those Temps would be ok for the Computer ?
It's OLED right ? What about burn in tho ? Especially if you work always on this tablet for a long time ?
I'm glad you asked. In PS, LRC, and a more creative app interface, burn-in does not happen or is not obvious or noticeable even after 5 to 6 hours of continued editing sessions. When displaying a webpage with bright logos, images, etc., for about 30 - 60 minutes, I do see some image retention, but this goes away after a short period of time when you change the page or app to something else.
Fantastic video. Thanks! If you’re not importing/exporting hundreds of files and the megapixel count is low (my scenario), it seems that the M3 Air would be plenty for raw editing. I like the light weight and fanless aspect of the Air. My questions would be: 1) for a casual user can you setup a decent preset for a photography workflow (locked brightness, correct white point etc) as you can with the Pro displays? I just watched your video on that. 2) the M3 14 has a better battery life and a single fan. Do you think that would be relatively quiet for general use and light raw editing? I have a Fuji X100 and do some film photography. A nice screen is more important than pure power for me. It would be my general daily laptop too. Thanks 🙂
1. On the Air you can't. On the 14" MBP even with the vanilla M3, you can. 2. Most of the time you won't hear anything. Especially for what you want to use it for with your file size.
@@ArtIsRight thank you 🙂
Maybe we should think the M3P as M3Photos and M3M as M3Movies. I am still waiting for the studio M4 Studio, but these machines are probably very good already if I don't have a machine already.
That is a good way of looking at it; however, LRC, LR, and other photo apps can now leverage the extra GPU inside the Max SoC; some of the performance improvements are significant enough to justify the Max, especially if you are a "Pro". But yes all of these machines are way more than what most really need at this point in time.
My 16" MBP running Sonoma 14.5 gives an error warning about halfway through the process and exits measurement. I have updated to the new version of Calibrite, Profiler 1.3.2. and the version check says I'm Up to date. I tried twice. Thanks for your help.
I have tried the latest version with Sonoma 14.5 and it works on my systems. I would think something might be going on with the OS or interference in the background or software.
Excellent video! Can you comment on the equivalent light from Lume Cube? Thx.
I don't have the Lime Cube in the studio to test, so I am unable to comment on that.
@@ArtIsRight Sorry, I meant the Lume Cube Light Panel.
Thanks for the insight! Loved seeing your final images. Fun night with fellow creatives.
Yes it was!
There’s a critical update about software on June 2024. Is there any difference ? Thanks in advance.
I think there may be some slight change in the color algorithm, I'm getting better ∆e in my tests.
@@ArtIsRight thank you !
Any idea why in Viber it cuts the screen ratio, even though the cam's field view is set to 90 dgrees in settings?
not sure, I would check that you have the latest driver. Falling short of that, it may be a Viber thing.
I'm not a computer guy. I just want to make an informed pick not to waste money. This was just excellent. Thanks
awesome!
Great video's! Question I'm using a Mac Mini Pro M2 and OS I just upgraded to Sonoma 14.5 some issues failed callabrtion?

Looks for videos M3 Pro is pretty good. Ultras are really good for videos.
Yup
I really love this photographer centric analysis. I think the 48GB M3M beats M1U and M2U in the medium 15.7GB test because it may have a faster SSD.
slightly, faster frequency of the cores contribute a large part to this too
This is a very good review, packed with useful information.
Thank You!
One thing I would suggest is to keep the order of all the computers the same on each chart, regardless of whether a given one is faster or slower on a specific task, because it does make it challenging to have to figure out which computer fits where when moving on to the next test.
I'll keep that in mind, heard the other way around as well.

@@ArtIsRight Would you recommend the M2 Max for hobby photographers? I don't have Lightroom at the moment and don't shoot a lot, but I'm shopping for a laptop that'll last several years + Lightroom and audio recording
I would just get a "Pro" for what you need. You can up the RAM and that would be it, I would save the money. :)
Can we bond a 10 gig sfp+ wiyh normal rther net rrë
You can but your router also has to support bonding
@@ArtIsRight i use udm pro se and unifi switches …
Yes then you are good to go
I own a MacBook M2 Air as a secondary/travel/tethering computer. I can’t recommend them for heavy use. It will hit a memory wall during editing. MacBook Pro only
Totally!
Ok your luminance meaning brightness is 88, but how is the brightness setting on the iPad Pro that has to affect it if turned way down or FULL brightness? Ok I see that Reference Mode locks the brightness....weird. How about calibrating the display to cool it down or warm it up is that possible? Also when I am measuring it is saying my Luminance is 229? Should I be in Reference Mode first before doing this? I think that answer is yes based on what you did. Please let me know if possible to calibrate the color tone so not too yellow or cool....thanks!
You can't that is the issue, you are sandboxed and there's not much that you can do.
@@ArtIsRight boooooo! 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Tell me about it!
polling rate 125Hz - huge latency (main functional parameter of the mouse) , and somebody calls it one of the best? - its absolutely opposite.... Polish features on poor engine... absolutely ridiculouse mouse... worst investment in my life in periferials
It's not a gaming mouse; that is why they make gaming one. We all have opinions and are entitled to them, and you certainly have yours.
@@ArtIsRight nope, there is no difference between gaming and working. I am CAD designer, I am instantly clicking and creating geometry, I need accurate movement with proper response...... With this mouse, I am overall slower, not so precise, making lot of mistakes lot of errors !!!!! Only due to latency. you are making milions of micro movements per day, each micro movement is slowed by at least 10 miliseconds, and quess what, it makes you overall slower.... from 8 hours of working day, I will do less job, with more errors..... What a proffesional mouse! DPI is marketing ..... its like a video camera... its fine to have 20Mpix sensor instead of 5Mpixels... but when 5Mpix should work on 120fps instead of 20Mpix on 25fps, you simply see the difference of the power.... Mouse in price range 100Dolars euro + on 125Hz polling tŕate, thats robbery in those times.... I am just simply angry, becuse I bought it through company resources, and its almost impossible to let it get refunded!!!!
Each to their own...
Does lunchbox iii fit Ninja Ultra?
same dimensions so it should, I would reach out to Andycine to be certain
Amazing content!
Appreciate it!
18/1 or 36/512 which one is better. I will use for coding. I am studying in computer science
I would go for more RAM
That's a gem info. out there. so much clarity after watching this video... thank you.
You're very welcome!
I’ve watched this several times, thank you!!! I hear you, it feels like you are saying the base models in terms of processors seems to be enough - i mostly do photo now but am about to digitize over 100 tapes editing in video software. So I’m thinking I need the Max vs Pro. But is 36GB RAM really enough - for tomorrow. Apple is confounding since the only jump is from 36 to 96! Or you upgrade processors to get to 48 or 64 - is that enough? I think you are saying that with today’s software there is diminishing return over 36 but with all the new AI introduced in Adobe software and now Apple Intelligence will that be RAM intensive or processor? Will Adobe continue to hog RAM in future releases? I kept my last Mac for 5+ years and it worked fine, slow lately and finally it died this week.
36GB is more than what most have and would consider buying. If this is going to be your primary machine, you night want to consider upgrading to more. And yes, would you have to SoC jump to get the next increment in RAM to if you are going to do that, I would up it to 64 GB. As for the question of is it enough for video work and digitizing tapes like you are about to do, totally. For photo, 36 GB works find but I have found ways to max it out, though most won't do what I do. I would not worry about AI much since most of it runs on the NPU and GPU, variation null really, ram won't matter much for Apple AI. For Adobe yes app does love memory and giving it more is better. It seems like you do keep the machine long term, I would recommend upgrading RAM
